Rather, they would if they could be bothered to get up.

Tracy, I’ll send you an email to get details for sending the pack off to you. Thanks to you and to everyone who participated for your enthusiastic support! Really. I never anticipated such a wonderful group of readers as a fringe benefit to this blogging business. I continue to be amazed and incredibly grateful for each of you and what your add to our little community. I’ll keep the giveaways coming, whenever possible, as token of that gratitude.

On that note, another housekeeping follow-up. I’ll be Dogs or Dollars at large this week in proper celebration of my birthday. I’m taking a week long break from here. Look for my return on Monday July 9th, with some exciting changes to flaunt (I hope). In the meantime, keep up with some of my doings via Facebook.

Happy Birthday week! We celebrate birthdays ONLY and spoil ourselves for at least week. If we have more money saved we celebrate longer.

Happy birthday week!

I’ve been doing research on raw diets before diving into it, though I’d share a finding. A recent (6/26/2012) medical journal publication with a randomized trial evaluated the differences in some urine values between dogs and cats on raw or dry diet. They concluded that feeding dry diets to dogs leads to increased urinary calcium and oxalates (which can lead to kidney and bladder stones).

Good stuff! Not surprising. I really think kibble is too nutrient dense without the inherent moisture required to process those nutrients (ie flush them out of the kidneys and bladder).

I have two Dalmatians, a breed prone to those issues, and knock on wood and all that is holy, we’ve never had any problems with our tinkle. ;)

Its awesome you are doing this research. I love it!
