Oh Yes, I Did
I seem to like making an ass out of myself.
Open mouth, insert foot. Rinse, Repeat. Again and again and again.
It must be true. Right on the heels of my ‘Acting Poor‘ soap box, what do I find to write about on this fine Friday morning? Purchases. As is so often the case, be it books, thrifted goodness, or the cuppow, my general love of stuff continues. This time its art.
Courtesy of the very talented and local Kate Endle. This wasn’t an unplanned procurement. I’d been oogling and squirreling away small amounts of money for some time. However, as is also so often the case with me, I may have uhm… gone the slimmest of margins over budget. Because although I was saving for a collage for me it is also the birthday of my very best friend (Happy Birthday BFF!). If I ‘need’ owl collage-y goodness, she certainly needs birthday owl collage-y goodness. I can post this because there is no way she will read it before I see her. HA! Once confronted with a myriad of owl choices, I was seemingly incapable of not choosing a very small fellow for my desk. One owl planned. Three owls happened. Have I mentioned my tendency to go overboard?
As a friend reminded me this week life is messy. Our realities are full of compromises, negotiations and contradictions. That’s why I blog. Not to be this documented, perfect example of how to live the frugal, homestead-y, conscientious consumerism lifestyle without error or deviation ever. Nope, it’s the back and forth I enjoy. The internal struggles, the questioning where to spend and where to save, the successes, the uncomfortable, yet familiar feeling of that foot in your mouth, and the owl collages. Better yet, owl collages for your best friend. It is my hope that this comes across to my readers. And that all this chaotic, TMI goodness is somehow useful to you in your very own mess.
